If you are new to mobile home investing, or a seasoned pro, take some time today to say thank you to someone who lead the way in “Fast Turning” individual mobile homes inside parks. Lonnie Scruggs was a leader and genuinely great guy – the point of this article is to remember him and his acts of service to the community and a nation of hungry cash-flow seeking investors.
When I first got started investing in individual mobile homes on private land and inside parks I had no idea who Lonnie was. It wasn’t until I had been investing for a few years that people started comparing me to Lonnie Scruggs (an honor I see now). At this point I had to read his books and learn more about this “mystery man”.
Lonnie Scruggs – A Life Of Giving
It turned out that this “mystery man” I had never heard of was a nationally recognized speaker of mobile home investing, author, even creating the “Lonnie Deal” based from his name. A Lonnie deal is one in which you purchase a used mobile home in a park for $0.00-$5000-ish and resell the mobile home quickly for 2 or 3 times this amount by holding payments.
In the past few years Lonnie has taken some heat with regards to new lending requirements and the SAFE Act however I don’t feel this dampened Lonnie’s spirit of giving back to the community of investors seeking his years of wisdom.
It may surprise you to learn that Lonnie and I have never formal met face to face. This is something that I must live with, it would have been so cool and educational to hear some of his mind-blowing and hilarious stories from all his years in the mobile home flipping business, or as he called it the “Paper business” (since he sold many of his mobile homes and held notes as per his Lonnie Deal strategy).
Changing Lives By Making The American Dream Possible
Something I am sure I know about Lonnie is the same thing I know about YOU and ME. If you are actively investing in inexpensive mobile homes and reselling them to good-hard-working folks you are changing lives one-by-one.
To date I have helped countless families acquire temporary or permanent used mobile home housing that these families would have not been able to afford otherwise. This is done by a combination of techniques that rely on receiving payments as part of the sales terms of your mobile home for sale.

Whenever I shake hands with a new tenant-buyer I see the look of honor and respect in these families faces. Perhaps never before has this family ever owned a home of their own. This is a great feeling that I can only assume that Lonnie has been feeling for 40+ years.

To the family of Lonnie please know your father, husband, brother has made an everlasting impression and change on the investing community that will live on in the good works of others he has inspired and trained.

April 19, 2013What a sad shock. I didn’t even know Lonnie was sick. Was he still touring and giving presentations. You certainly do share the same giving spirit as Lonnie and he will be missed.

I’m not certain if he was giving any more speeches but he was likely still helping folks until the end. He was a great guy. Plus it’s pretty cool to have your own “deal strategy” named after you.

June 22, 2013Saw Scruggs on a replay of an American Greed episode from 2012 the other day. He was fleeced out of $500,000 in a ponzi scheme. Said he was embarrassed to go on national tv to admit it, but he wanted others to learn from his mistake. I read his first 2 books almost 20 years ago and made some good money off of mobile homes I bought using his methods. RIP good sir.

Thanks for commenting. I like his “take the mystery out of money” book the best out of all 3, but all are worth the minimal cost. You’ll get nuggets-of-profitable info in each book. Remember to get excited when learning about real estate investing and sharpening your skills. You’re not learning for some far off land, but rather to be used and implemented in your real life while dealing with sellers or buyers.
Lonnie did a lot the mobile home investing niche, or rather to say he brought a lot of people to the same cash-flow light you have already realized.

Thank you for reaching out and connecting. There used to be a free copy PDF online that was pretty easy to find. However I was recently looking for it and am unable to find it. Again I have not looked for it for a number of years. If you check out the following website it seems like they offer Lonnie’s books for a reasonable price or no extra fee once you are a member. This is a pretty good website with a ton of great information by seasoned real estate investors. I definitely recommend it.
